One Point Perspective
What is a vanishing point?
The point at which receding parallel lines viewed in perspective appear to converge.
The point at which things grow smaller or increasingly fainter with less detail and color disappears altogether.
We will be doing some skill building before we create a city using a one point perspective.
#1 - The first project is a group of squares and rectangles that go to the vanishing point.
You will use a 12 x 12 piece of white paper.
The vanishing point is where all diagonal lines will go. It is also where things seem to get smaller and disappear in the distance.
You will make 6 Squares & Rectangles plus 3 that overlap the other 6. The 3 that overlap will be behind the others. Do the overlapping ones last.

After the shapes have lines to the vanishing point you will turn the shapes into cubes. Go down the side that goes to the vanishing point and make a line that is parallel to the shape. This should make a cube. See example below.

After you have drawing the 9 or more squares and rectangles you will begin to color them. Your light source is on the top. If your shape has more than two sides showing you will have three values in your color. Use the same colored pencil for each cube/shape. Press lighter or harder to change the value.

#2 - The next project is to make the letters in your name into block letters using a vanishing point and a 1 Point Perspective.

These are examples of how to draw some letters to the vanishing point. They go from flat to Block letters or 3-D
