Italian Renaissance Artists
These are Northern Renaissance artists and their contributions
Leonardo Da Vinci (1452-1519)
Well known as and inventor, architect and anatomist.
He designed mechanical devices for manufacturing, was and transportation.
He mapped out the human body's internal organs, muscles and bones more thoroughly the anyone before him. His most famous painting titled "Mona Lisa". Believed to be painted between 1503 and 1506.





Michelangelo Buonarroti (1475-1564)
He made the sculpture of "Mother Mary" holding her son in her lap (Roman Pieta) and then his statue of David in Florence, the first nude carved on a colossal scale. from 1508 to 1512 he painted the Vatican's Sistine Chapel ceiling single-handedly. He designed the St Peter's Basilica dome. (a rounded vault forming the roof of a building.) He created spiritual drawings.







Rafael Sanzio. (1483-1520)
Born Raffaello Sanzio was crowned the prince of painters by a sixteenth-century biographer of artists. By age twenty-one he moved to Florence where he studied the works of Michelangelo and Da Vinci. He did many paintings of the Madonna and Child showing man warmth , serenity and perfect figures. He painted a large fresco of "The School of Athens, most famous frescoes painting. It shows many figures in a group. The Sistine Madona (painting of Mary and Child, with two figures on each side as well as two angels at the bottom) is one of Raphael's most famous works. Named from the church of San Sisto in Piacenza which was painted for the altarpiece of that church in 1513-1514
